Institute of Emerging Careers
Terms of Service
Last updated: August 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the IEC Placement Portal operated by the Institute of Emerging Careers (“IEC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Portal, you agree to these Terms.
1. Agreement to these Terms
If you use the Portal on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Portal.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information, including Google Calendar data. You should read it together with these Terms.
2. The service
The IEC Placement Portal is a role-based placement platform that allows:
- Job seekers to build profiles, browse jobs, apply, complete assessments, and manage interviews.
- Organizations to post jobs, review applicants (subject to Portal privacy rules), schedule interviews, and manage hiring pipelines.
- IEC administrators to oversee programs, users, interviews, and related placement operations.
IEC may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee that any particular job, interview, or placement will result from use of the Portal.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify IEC promptly at ask@iec.org.pk if you believe your account has been compromised.
- Organization accounts may be used only by authorized employees or agents of that organization.
- We may refuse, reclaim, or require changes to usernames or profile information that violate these Terms or applicable law.
4. Roles and acceptable use
You agree to use the Portal only for lawful placement, hiring, and career-development purposes. You must not:
- Attempt to access another user’s account or data except through features provided for your role.
- Scrape, harvest, or misuse candidate or employer data, or use the Portal to spam, harass, or discriminate unlawfully.
- Upload malware, interfere with the Portal’s operation, or probe systems without authorization.
- Post false, misleading, or infringing job listings, profiles, or documents.
- Circumvent privacy controls — including attempting to obtain candidate contact details that the Portal intentionally withholds from organization users.
- Use Google Calendar access for any purpose other than interview scheduling in the Portal.
- Misrepresent your identity, employer, or affiliation with IEC.
Organizations must comply with applicable employment, equal opportunity, and data-protection laws when reviewing candidates and conducting interviews.
5. Google Calendar integration
Organization members may connect a Google account so the Portal can check availability and create, update, or cancel interview events (including Google Meet links). This connection is optional in principle, but scheduling interviews through the calendar-synced flow requires a connected calendar.
- You grant IEC permission to access Google Calendar only as described in the Privacy Policy and Google’s consent screen.
- You can disconnect at any time in Settings → Calendar or by revoking access in your Google Account.
- IEC does not warrant uninterrupted sync with Google. Calendar access may expire and require reconnection.
- You remain responsible for the accuracy of your calendar and for honoring interviews you confirm.
- Google’s terms and privacy policy also apply to your use of Google products.
6. Jobs, applications, and interviews
6.1 Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (profiles, résumés, job posts, notes). You grant IEC a non-exclusive license to host, store, display, and process that content as needed to operate the Portal and the placement program.
6.2 Accuracy
Job seekers are responsible for the accuracy of their profiles and applications. Organizations are responsible for the accuracy of job posts and for interview communications they initiate in the Portal.
6.3 Interviews
Interview invitations, acceptances, declines, reschedules, and cancellations are recorded in the Portal. IEC administrators may cancel or intervene in interviews where needed to operate the program fairly or to address abuse, errors, or policy violations.
6.4 No employment contract
The Portal is a facilitation tool. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship between IEC and a hiring organization, or between IEC and a job seeker, except as separately agreed in writing (for example, a training or scholarship agreement with IEC).
7. Payments and subscriptions
Certain organization features may require a paid subscription. Fees, billing intervals, and what is included are shown at checkout or in the billing section of the Portal. Payments may be processed by Stripe, PayFast, or another processor we designate.
- You authorize us and our processors to charge the payment method you provide.
- Taxes may apply. Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise.
- We may suspend paid features if payment fails or a subscription is cancelled.
- Program-related learner payments (if any) are governed by the separate agreements and notices IEC provides for those programs.
8. Intellectual property
The Portal, including its design, software, trademarks, and IEC branding, is owned by IEC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Portal except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
“IEC,” “Institute of Emerging Careers,” and related marks are identifiers of IEC. Google, Google Calendar, and Google Meet are trademarks of Google LLC. Their use does not imply endorsement beyond the integration described in these Terms.
9. Privacy and candidate data
Each party must handle personal data in line with the Privacy Policy and applicable law. Organization users must not attempt to extract or publish candidate contact information that the Portal does not display, and must use candidate data only for legitimate hiring related to jobs on the Portal.
10. Disclaimers
THE PORTAL IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IEC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
IEC does not warrant that interviews will occur as scheduled, that Google Calendar or Meet will be available without interruption, that any candidate will be hired, or that any job listing is suitable for a particular person.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IEC AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PORTAL.
IEC’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE PORTAL WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO IEC FOR PORTAL ACCESS IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Portal at any time. You may request account closure by contacting ask@iec.org.pk. IEC may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if needed to protect users or the placement program. Upon termination, rights granted to you end. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that IEC’s status as a United States 501(c)(3) nonprofit is governed by applicable U.S. law. Courts located in Pakistan will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
